Second session in the Fall 2024 Water-Wise Landscaping Workshop Series presented by City of Napa Water in partnership with Napa County Resource Conservation District and UC Master Gardeners.

Jesse Savou, founder/owner of BlueBarrel Rainwater Catchment Systems, will show how to actively collect and store rainwater for later irrigation use. Two Napa homeowners will provide local rainwater harvesting case studies. The City's Water Conservation Specialist, Josh Stokes, will explore how used water from your indoor appliances and fixtures can be directed to the plants in your yard, with special focus on the basic laundry-to-landscape greywater system that uses clothes washer outflow and does not require a permit. Attendees will have a chance to win useful and valuable door prizes!

Fanny Stevenson, the fascinating and formidable wife of Robert Louis Stevenson has long been overlooked in the life of the well-known Scottish author, but now you can explore her life, her story, and her influence on the legacy of Robert Louis Stevenson.

Camille Peri’s, A Wilder Shore, rescues Fanny and Robert Louis Stevenson's story from the dusty shelves of academia to bring life to a marriage that thrived on tempests, adventures and chaotic fun that would have wilted most Victorian households. It takes the reader with them on a whirlwind tour of life across the globe at the turn of the century.

The evening will feature a conversation between Camille and interviewer, Margaret Talbot of the New Yorker.

St. Helena’s Cameo Cinema presents ‘Behind the Camera’ with Rose Gilroy, screenwriter of the $100 million Apple-acquired script 'Fly Me To The Moon. She will be in attendance on July 23 for a screening and discussion of her film, which marks her first script to be set up and sold at a studio. Scarlett Johansson produced alongside Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn through their These Pictures production company. “The totally original script by Rose Gilroy was what excited me most about this film. explained Johansson “It is a big picture movie that feels both nostalgic and so modern and the kind of movie I'm always reaching for that you rarely get to see in theaters these days.” Gilroy recently garnered a spot on the 2023 Variety '10 Screenwriters to Watch' list. Additionally her wilderness thriller, “The Pack,” is in development with Alexander Skarsgård set to direct and co-star with Florence Pugh. We are excited to have you visit our farm! Begin your day by picking your own lavender bundles from one of the 23 varieties planted throughout the property. Next, sit down with one of our resident wreath "experts" and begin attaching those beautiful bunches to an authentic Napa Valley grapevine plucked from one of the many vineyards in the Carneros Region of the Valley. Voila, a beautiful lavender wreath is born, which will smell delightful for months to come!

Chatting with old or new-found friends is certainly part of the program, as is tasting our lavender infused lemonade and nibbling on one of our delicious lavender brownies. We offer classes throughout the week while the lavender is in bloom, but we have limited space so please sign up prior to your visit to make sure we have ample product to accommodate you and/or your group.
