Beaulieu Vineyard
By Lauren A.
Beaulieu Vineyard is most widely known for its signature cabernet, the Georges de Latour Private Reserve, which earned the title of Napa Valley’s first “cult” cabernet. While the Georges de Latour may be its most notable claim to fame, there are many more reasons to visit Beaulieu Vineyards this year.
Beaulieu Vineyard’s wines are characterized by a mineral-rich soil called “Rutherford Dust.” The region is characterized by gravelly, well-draining soils and a balanced climate, giving the wines a unique depth and complexity that sets it apart from other Napa Valley cabernets. Visitors can learn more about these one-of-a-kind growing conditions in the vineyard’s “Discover Rutherford Dust” tour, which showcases four exceptional cabernets that exemplify the influence of Rutherford Dust on these wines.
The vineyard is also offering a “Clone Expression” tasting, inviting guests to explore recently discovered clones selected for their lush berry size and intricate skin textures, according to Claire Wilkins, Beaulieu Vineyard’s director of hospitality.
Later this year, Beaulieu Vineyards will honor its 125th birthday during the 2022 Georges de Latour Release Celebration this September when guests can taste the new vintage. It will also pay tribute to the legendary winemaker, André Tchelistcheff throughout October with additional tastings.
